What is the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Now we’re all a little familiar with the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ but mainstream Christianity focuses so much on the idea of these things that we have completely neglected the real Jesus and his message.

Yes, there is redemption and restoration offered to humanity by God through Jesus Christ but we need to understand that there is no “salvation” without repentance or sanctification.

You see, we like to confuse the “gospel” or good news of the atonement with the subject matter of Jesus Christ, but Jesus did not preach about the cross—he preached the coming kingdom of God.

“Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; but He said to them, ‘I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.’” Luke 4:42-43 (NKJV)

Jesus proclaimed that the kingdom (or sovereignty and judgment) of God is near, so we have to stop sinning and misbehaving according to God’s standard.

Many of us have our own standards and ideas of who God is and what He’s like but Jesus came to teach us what God and heaven are truly like.

Wake up you guys!

Do not be deceived by all these people playing “church”. The gospel of Jesus Christ is not all about God’s “love” but rather His intolerance. We have to repent if we want to be saved, and we also have to stop with all of this self Indulging!

“Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.’ “

Luke 9:23-24

Now (for those of you who are hyper-grace) am I saying that the apostle Paul preached a different gospel?

No. And if you think that’s what I’m saying then you may not know the difference between preaching the gospel and bearing witness.

The disciples PHYSICALLY and literally walked with Jesus (that’s why they taught about faith) and Paul was still chosen by God after persecuting true believers (that’s why he taught about grace). We have to remember that the scriptures are also their personal testimonies. This is why we need the holy Spirit in order to discern what we’re reading. Are they preaching the gospel right now or are they just teaching about Jesus?? Cuz remember, these letters were basically written to people who had already believed or received the gospel.

” Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God AND teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.”

Acts 28:30-31 (NKJV)

Anyway, I just hope that this post clarifies some things for you. Let us all be accurate in spreading the good news!
